A number of people have a special attraction to anything small. If you are the type of person who adores cute little things, you might want to take home a dwarf hamster as a pet.

As the name suggests, dwarf hamsters are not your regular-sized Syrians hamsters. You can say that they are the miniature versions of the common hamsters you find in pet stores. Dwarf hamsters are known to have been originated from Mongolia and Russia. A big population of dwarf hamsters is also found in China. This is basically the reason why they are also commonly referred to as Chinese hamsters. WC Campbell discovered these little furry pets in 1900's. One type of dwarf hamsters is actually named after him.

Dwarf hamsters can grow as much as 3 to 4 inches. They have short legs and large heads. They sniff on their smell noses that most pet owners are fond of specially when they daggle food for them to sniff. Most dwarf hamsters have a dorsal stripe from their head down to their tail.

There are different colors of dwarf hamsters that basically dictate which type of dwarf hamsters they are. The Agouti is referred to as the wild type hamsters with colors ranging from brown to medium brown. Their belly areas are prominently white.

Albino dwarf hamsters are white all over. They do not have any dorsal stripes are their eyes are red and their ears are pink. The Argente hamsters have furs in cream and apricot colors. They have gray dorsal types and ruby eyes. You might also chance upon Argente hamsters with black eyes.

There are dwarf hamsters that are completely black. Their dorsal stripes are also black in color. Some dwarf hamsters with very dark brown fur may also be considered black hamsters. Checkout some Cats For Sale here and Puppies for Sale here.

A number of people would tell you that Opal dwarf hamsters are probably the most unique. They have silver-blue colored fur and their undersides are white with gray dorsal stripes.

Taking care of a dwarf hamsters is similar to taking care of any other pet you may have. You need to designate your pet a place of its own, either its own cage or a small improvised bed. You need to feed them everyday and throw away uneaten food right away. Give them enough water supplies. Remove any soiled materials off their adobe. Once in a week, you need to change their beddings and clean their area of dwelling.

Dwarf hamsters are really fun to marvel at, you can even hold them comfortably on your palm. Without a doubt, dwarf hamsters are definitely cute but sensitive finds!
